Support Kansas City is celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2010. As part of this celebration, we will be presenting two awards to nonprofits who exhibit excellence in nonprofit leadership. The award winners have just been announced! Rose Brooks Center has won the award for the agency with a budget of $3,000,000 or more and Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City has won as the agency with a budget of under $3,000,000. Rose Brooks Center (RBC) has been providing services to women and children escaping abuse since 1978. I am most pleased with RBC's growing reputation as a leader in innovative, comprehensive domestic violence programming, said Susan Miller, CEO for RBC, I have never been so encouraged and proud of the tremendous success of our agency and staff. Down Syndrome Guild (DSG) provides support and resources for individuals with Down syndrome and their families, as well as offering public education to foster positive attitudes toward people with Down syndrome. It has been a privilege to carry out DSG's mission to assist educators, parents and organizations locally, nationally and internationally to create positive outcomes for people with Down syndrome. said Amy Allison, Executive Director for DSG. Rose Brooks Center and Down Syndrome Guild will receive their awards on April 29, 2010 at Support Kansas City 's 10 Year Anniversary Luncheon. We will also honor Turner House Children's Clinic with a Special Recognition award for their progress, along with several key stakeholders and supporters, including founder, David Ross.
